Today I'll take you through part one of mining, this includes ores and other materials you will probably find first underground in the game. You will need a wooden pickaxe to mine stone (see figure to the right). You craft a stone pickaxe the same way you craft a wooden one except you put cobblestone instead of wooden planks. 1. Stone- Soooooo common that you will always be trying to get rid of it. Stone must be mined with a wooden pickaxe and will turn into cobblestone when you find it. 2. Coal ore- When mined it will give you one coal piece and has a chance of giving you experience. You can craft it into a torch. Coal must be mined with a wooden pickaxe. 3. Iron ore- You will have to smelt iron ore in a furnace to get iron ingots by putting the ore on the top and coal in the bottom. Iron must be mined with a stone pickaxe. 4. Lapis Lazuli- By far the most hard to find of these four. Lapis is a decorative block and has no other use. When the ore is mined it will give five or six pieces of Lapis. Lapis must be mined with a stone pickaxe. Note: Coal, iron, and lapis can be crafted into blocks by placing one piece of the material in each square of the crafting grid.
